Nellie is the England Mascot!
January 22nd saw our very own KWP under 9 Nellie Carney become the official mascot of the England netball team for the Vitality Netball Nations Cup at the Arena Birmingham.
Matches on the day were Jamaica v New Zealand and England v South Africa.
When Nellie arrived at the arena she was taken through a special entrance and given a mascot accreditation mascot to wear. She was treated like royalty with her very own dressing room opposite the umpires, who she saw warming up and was able to meet Gary Burgess. Following this, Nellie received a backstage tour and had the opportunity have an interview where the players have their interviews after the game.
After this it was practice time and Nellie had a practice run of coming through the tunnel and onto the court, whilst doing this Nellie witnessed Sky Sports and Tamsin Greenway also completing their practice run through.
Here’s what Nellie had to say about her amazing day:
“Being an England mascot at the Nations Cup was amazing. I got to go backstage and on the court before the match. Meeting the players was my favorite bit, standing with them on court was exciting but I had jelly legs! They all played so well and I’m glad they won!”
Many thanks to England Netball and Bee Netball for this amazing opportunity for one of our KWP players.
